HB 5274 – To (1) establish the crime of using computer software or technology, including a drone, which allows someone who is not physically present to release tear gas or control a deadly weapon, explosive or incendiary device, (2) limit the use of a drone by law enforcement and other state agencies, and (3) establish retention and destruction requirements for information collected by law enforcement using drones. View the Act

SB 389 – Requires the Commissioner of Transportation to submit a plan regarding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to perform investigations and inspections. View the Bill

HB 5351 – Specifies that no law enforcement agency may acquire controlled equipment, including armored or weaponized drones, except a municipal police department which holds a public hearing and attains approval of the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection. View the Bill

    Nation’s Defense Bar Reiterates Opposition to Actions Against Law Firms – Washington, DC (March 18, 2025)

    The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) remains deeply concerned over recent executive orders targeting law firms, most recently Paul Weiss and Perkins Coie, and repeats its call to uphold the right to counsel and the independence of the legal profession. Despite a ruling blocking the action against Perkins Coie, the administration has continued to target law firms representing disfavored clients and positions, threatening the right to a zealous defense.
